Welcome our Revenue New South Wales Fellows!
We’re a team of three Fellows who are doing two pieces of work for Revenue New South Wales.
The first one involves publishing open data so that it is accessible and easy-to-use for the public. The second is to do with redesigning the intranet for the department/agency. We are utilising our disparate skills in UX Design, Front End Development and Infrastructure to help make the project a success.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
🍃I am Michael and the UX designer in the team. When I am not busy designing websites and interfaces I am probably making origami.
🐣I’m Ricky. I am a web Developer with many years of experience in Back End support, and I like creating beautiful things.
🙃I’m Chethana, a Front End Developer who likes to design as well. I’m proactive and self-driven in experimenting with new technologies. I love travelling around and exploring food and its culture.
Why did I decide to do this Fellowship?
🍃M: This is my second Fellowship, and since I learnt a lot from the first time I did one, I was interested in coming back for another! Also, it is in my area of interest, which is data visualisation.
🐣R: I am always looking for interesting collaborations that serve the greater good. This Fellowship is a great opportunity to utilise my technical and creative abilities.
🙃C: It was a great opportunity for me — I get to do what I love and this is where I’d like to see my career going. Also, the project seemed exciting!
What am I excited about?
🍃M: I am excited about working on a data visualisation project, given the importance of the role of the government in providing information to the public in the pandemic era. It is also my first fully remote project.
🐣R: I am excited to be able to collaborate with people with different specialisations to create something meaningful.
🙃C: I’m excited to work remotely with a team who’s supportive and proactive. Each of us have a different skill set to contribute and learn from the project.
What am I nervous about?
🍃M: I am nervous about how this Fellowship will be similar or different to my first Fellowship, and what working with the government on a project remotely will be like.
🐣R: Fellowship engagements tend to be a bit like walking into the unknown. We will need to work with situations that could rapidly change and may have to redefine our priorities as things happen.
🙃C: I’m nervous about coordinating with the teams with different time zones.
